Make lockdown more bearable with these prawn gyoza’s. I mean, who doesn’t love a gyoza or 26? They’re easy to eat, and even easier than you think to make!
Ingredients
400g raw prawns
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 spring onions, finely chopped
1 tbsp soy sauce
1/4 tsp white pepper
1.5 tsp corn flour
1/2 cup stock (dont worry, sounds like a lot, but this ensures your dumplings are juicy and delicious, not rubbery AF)
1 packet of gyoza wrappers
Dipping sauce:
3 tbsp’s soy sauce
1/2 red chilli, sliced
2 cloves garlic, sliced
Method
Mince 2/3 of the prawns with a knife and roughly chop the remainder. Add them to a large bowl along with the other ingredients. Stir well until everything is combined.
Take a gyoza wrapper, and place 1 tsp of the prawn mixture in the middle (be sure not to overfill them, things will get messy). Dip your finger in some water and go around the outside of the wrapper and seal it in half. Make the pleats on either side and press firmly to seal.
To cook the gyoza’s, heat a generous drizzle of oil in a large pan on medium heat.
Place the gyoza’s in the pan and allow to cook until golden on the bottom (around 2 mins).
Add some water until it reaches a 1/4 of the way up of the gyoza’s. Cover with a lid and steam for 5 minutes. Remove the lid and allow to cook for a further 2 minutes. Place the chilli, garlic and soy sauce in a small bowl and serve immediately!
